Casey McKinley

liturgical composer + music director

Casey was raised in San Diego, CA. Growing up, Casey was very involved in the performing arts and studied piano, violin, viola and music theory. He was especially active in musical theater, choir, dance and opera. He studied English and Music at the University of San Diego and was very involved with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship as a worship leader as well as with the Catholic Founder’s Chapel choir as a cantor and student director.

After graduating from USD in 2006, Casey had the opportunity to serve in the Diocese of San Diego in a variety of capacities, including both student and music ministries. After several years of part-time music ministry, Casey was eventually offered the opportunity to serve as the full-time music director for Saint John the Evangelist in Encinitas, CA. During his time at St. John’s, Casey began to channel his love of songwriting to craft songs specifically for corporate worship.  In 2014, Casey became a new composer for Spirit and Song and continues to compose contemporary liturgical music for his local faith community.

Casey and his wife and son currently live in Long Beach, California, where he works at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Orange County as a full-time music director.
